The United States of America

Who says the United States of America is limited to the area known to the world as "America?" There can certainly be more states, unified into a larger country. Not because they are "weak," but for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both the target nation and the current United States.

What I am leading into is the proposition that Mexico and Canada join the United States. Not due to force, but because it will benefit everyone involved.

Camara: Transition or Dictatorship?

Since the December 2008 coup that brought Camara to power, the question remains: will he be a transitional leader as he claims, or just another dictator?

Communist Communes

Communism can't work, right?

But I have this theory that we could take some (50-100) people who were 5's and 6's on the Kohlberg scale of moral development, buy some land somewhere, and start a commune as an independent country.
The things it would have to have would be:

1. Diversity in skill

On the National Bolshevik Party

Yesterday, an old friend, Rudolf Marr, brought to my attention the program of the National Bolshevik Party (NBP). I am very impressed with the ideas presented to me. Many I had not even considered. However, I must disagree on one point.

Dandreism

The Forms of Governments used today are excellent. At least most of them are. I would like to submit, however, a new type on this Day, April 23, 2005.

The Name I have given for this particular Form of Government is Dandreism. It is similar in concept to Parliamentary Democracy, without the Legislative Body in control of the Military and neither is the Prime Minister. Rather, a popularly elected President controls the Military, but almost nothing else.

Origins of Liberia

In the early 1800’s, the number of blacks in America was increasing. Some white leaders thought it was increasing too fast. In 1790, the number of free blacks in America was 59,467. But in 1810, it had increased to 186,446. They would often assist in slave rebellions, which angered the American leaders. They thought the best solution was to ship the free blacks back to Africa. So, in 1816, the American Colonization Society (ACS) was founded by John Randolph, Henry Clay, and Charles F. Mercer.

Peace at hand in Northern Ireland?

Northern Ireland, like the Middle East, has consistently been one of the world’s “hot spots” of terrorism. Some observers, however, say that since violence has abated somewhat and cities like Belfast are beginning to see modern development, peace in Northern Ireland is finally at hand. The truth is, although the general conditions in Northern Ireland have improved in the last fifteen years, the peace is fragile, precarious, and vulnerable. One key assassination, such as that of Ian Paisley or Gerry Adams, could spark an explosive conflict.

The Dean Revolution in Retrospect

The nationwide victories for the Democratic Party in 2006 signified the desire of the American people for a change from the old Republican order that had been in place for the past 14 years, as well as a backlash against the disastrous policies of Republican President George W. Bush. The elections went so badly for the Republican Party that for the first time in American history, they failed to win a single election for any office previously held by a Democrat at the congressional and gubernatorial levels.

Thoughts on Moussa Dadis Camara

Following a coup in Guinea, the question arises: is provisional President Moussa Dadis Camara going to be a transitional democratic leader or the next Lansana Conté?

The coup only happening on 23 December, it’s far too soon for me to even try to read Camara.

It seems like he’s actually trying to rectify Guinea’s horrible situation, its “deep despair” as he put it. Or at least he’s trying to give the appearance of it. His “transitional government” is to include a military president but a civilian prime minister, and he has plans for an ethnically-balanced government.
